It’s the holidays and what better way to channel our glitz and drama than a super glam holiday makeup tutorial?
At A Glance: Holiday Makeup Tutorial For The Glamorous
- Start with a glassy base to create hydrated, luminous skin that holds makeup beautifully through the night.
- Build soft, blended gold and glitter eyes with a defined lash line and on-fleek brows for instant glamour.
- Finish with a red lip that feels perfectly on theme for the holidays.
Time to Celebrate The Holidays!
The holiday season is full of celebrations, gatherings, and a good reason to go all glam. The cooler weather also makes it easier for makeup to stay put, which is why this time of year is perfect for rich, dramatic looks.
For the 2025 version, start your makeup with a glassy base to create smooth and radiant skin that makes the pigments on top look even better.
I know it can be intimidating to create this look, especially for those who aren’t used to wearing a lot of makeup, but if you follow these steps you won’t go wrong. Feel free to adjust the products you use because this is all about having fun and finding what works for you.
This super glam and dramatic holiday makeup tutorial is inspired by the season itself. We’re applying the classic red lips and glittery palettes to create exquisite looks for parties, late-night Fridays, or any special occasion. If you’re feeling bold, you can even wear a softer version with your favorite holiday outfits.
So what are you waiting for? Let’s get on it!
What You’ll Need:
- Makeup Forever Ultra HD Foundation
- It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye
- Kat Von D Lock It Foundation (I honestly don’t need two foundations but for added coverage, you can opt to use two)
- Hydrating primer or illuminating primer (for glassy base)
- Lightweight, dewy foundation or skin-like serum foundation
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz
- Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade
- NYX Blush in Taupe (A definite must-have if you’re into contouring!)
- The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (Another cult favorite, if you have this trust me you don’t need any other highlighter, that is if you’re between my shade which is NC 15-20)
- Zoeva Coral Spectrum Blush Palette
- MAC Paint Pot – Soft Ochre
- Makeup Geek Eyeshadows
- Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner
- MAC Eyeshadow Nylon (You’ll thank me for these dupes!)
- Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick in Unicorn Blood (Ofra in Havana Nights is said to be a great dupe for this hard to find lippie)
Note: When you know which foundation to put on, take note that the neck will always be a different color than your body, so my best advice is to match the decolletage unless you’re wearing a closed-neck attire.
How To:
Step 1:
Prep skin and apply hydrating or illuminating primer. After cleansing and moisturizing as usual, apply a hydrating or glow-boosting primer all over your face. Doing so creates a smooth, luminous canvas and gives skin that fresh, dewy “glass skin” look.

Step 2:
Instead of using a heavy matte base, pick a lightweight, dewy, or serum foundation to keep the skin looking hydrated and radiant. Blend it in with a damp sponge or brush. If you want extra coverage, you can still use your regular foundation or the Kat Von D formula, but keep the layer sheer enough so the natural skin still shows through.
Step 3:
Apply concealer only where needed such as dark circles or blemishes.
Step 4:
Proceed with brows and eyes.
- Fill your brows with Brow Wiz or Dip Brow.
- Prime lids, create eye contour with your palette, apply gold, add glitter and liner, define the lower lash line, and apply false lashes if you want a bold gaze.
- Contour with NYX Taupe, apply blush and highlight as before, and emphasize the glow with your highlighter for that glassy finish.

Step 5:
After all powder and cream work, avoid heavy setting powder or only set oil-prone areas. Use a damp makeup sponge to press everything in so the skin looks natural and dewy, and not chalky.
Step 6:
Finish with a hydrating or glowy setting spray to lock in makeup and keep that luminous, glass-skin surface.
Step 7:
Apply your red lipstick or any bold lip color of your choice.

The Holiday season is definitely the best time of the year to be wearing makeup that is bold and out there. Don’t be afraid to bring out your inner fierce by going all out on makeup, but as always balance is key.
In fact, hire a makeup artist if you may. But, if that is not within what you are willing to spend, then this holiday makeup tutorial is definitely a good example of how it is done.
